Professor Dhiru Soni

Professor Dhiru V Soni was Head of Department of Environmental Studies and Development and Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research at the erstwhile University of Durban Westville. He was also Executive Director for Outreach at the University of KwaZulu Natal.

He holds a D Phil Degree and has researched and published extensively and has presented papers at many national and international conferences. He has been a member of the Editorial Board of the South African Geographical Journal. He is an International Urban Research Fellow of Johns Hopkins University (USA), Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University (USA), West Virginia University (USA), East London University (UK) and Nirma University (India).

He was a member of the Development Tribunal of KwaZulu Natal. He was also a member of the Board of the Small Enterprise Development Agency in Durban, South Africa. Currently, Professor Soni is the Director for Research and Innovation at REGENT Business School. He was the main convenor of the School’s First International Conference in 2013 and is Chief Co-Editor of the International Journal of Management Perspectives which will be launched this year. He continues to research and publish and mentor younger academics and researchers.

His current research interest is in the field of Green Governance, Entrepreneurship and Food Security.
