Munirah Osman

Teaching, Learning, and Innovation Manager at Regent Business School Munirah Osman has built a distinguished career in law and academia, marked by significant contributions to both fields. She began her legal journey by serving articles and practicing as an attorney at Lockhat & Associates for seven years. In December 1997, she transitioned to academia by joining the Campus Law Clinic at Howard College, University of Natal. Her dedication and expertise led to her appointment as Director of the Law Clinic in 2004. Two years later, Munirah became a lecturer at the UKZN Law Faculty, where she dedicated 24 years of service. Currently, Munirah is the Teaching, Learning and Innovations Manager at Regent Business School, a role she has held since January 2024.

She initially joined Regent Business School in February 2022 as the Head of the School of Law and Administration. During her tenure as head, she led the newly established school in offering a variety of programs focused on Law, Commerce, Public Administration, and Islamic Banking and Finance. Munirah Osman is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. In 2004, she completed her Master’s degree in Constitutional Law and Human Rights Litigation, including an elective on Legal Education. This specialization significantly enhanced her academic skills and contributions.

Driven by her interest in Islamic Law, Munirah also pursued and completed a Certificate in Islamic Law, further broadening her expertise in this area. Additionally, she is certified to offer training to candidate legal practitioners through the School for Legal Practice, part of the Legal Education and Development arm of the Legal Practice Council. Over the years, Munirah Osman has cultivated a diverse and robust skill set. Her empathetic and nurturing nature, combined with her exceptional listening abilities, make her a supportive mentor and effective communicator. Munirah is an eloquent orator and a competent writer, excelling in both verbal and written communication. Her digital literacy spans a wide range of tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various internet and social media platforms, all of which she applies proficiently in her work. Additionally, she has honed her report writing and research skills, producing insightful and well-structured documents.

Munirah’s leadership and management capabilities are evident in her successful tenure in various academic and administrative roles, demonstrating her ability to guide teams and manage complex projects effectively. Munirah Osman has earned several accolades and achievements throughout her career. She graduated at the top of her class in the Higher Certificate in Islamic Law program, achieving all distinctions. Her Master’s dissertation, “”Meeting Quality Requirements: A Qualitative Review of the Clinical Law Module at the Howard College Campus,”” was published in the esteemed legal journal, De Jure. Furthermore, Munirah has presented at numerous conferences and workshops, sharing her insights with both local and international audiences. Munirah Osman has been married for 24 years and is a devoted mother to two children: a 22-year-old daughter and an 18-year-old son. In her personal life, Munirah enjoys a variety of hobbies, including reading, walking, drawing, painting, sewing, embroidery, and various arts and crafts. She also has a passion for cooking, setting puzzles, and socializing with friends and family. Munirah actively participates in community programs and enjoys watching drama serials. Professionally, Munirah’s areas of interest are centered around women’s rights, particularly those of Muslim women, Islamic Law and Muslim Personal Law, Constitutional Litigation and Human Rights, and interdisciplinary research at the intersection of law, business, and commerce.
