Redefining the future

REGENT Business School continues to redefine the future of higher education through immersive, experiential learning that bridges leadership development and applied research.

The Academic Design and Research Portfolio recently collaborated to deliver a transformative two-day experiential learning initiative themed “Summiting Success: Leadership, Decision-Making and Teamwork in Extreme Environments.” This initiative challenged undergraduate students to step beyond traditional classroom learning and engage in dynamic simulated environments designed to mirror real-world complexity, uncertainty, and leadership pressure.

Immersive Learning

Students navigated a series of immersive learning spaces and simulations. Each environment demanded resilience, adaptability, critical thinking, teamwork, and ethical decision-making. Through these simulations, theoretical leadership concepts were activated through practical, high-stakes scenarios that required collaboration and strategic thinking.

Learning Journey

The learning journey extended beyond experiential engagement. On the second day, students transitioned from experience to inquiry, embarking on an introduction to applied research. They explored the purpose of research, developed foundational literature review skills, and engaged in data collection rooted in their simulation experiences. In a deliberate shift from traditional higher education practice, REGENT Business School embedded research thinking at undergraduate level, positioning research not as an isolated academic requirement, but as a structured process of inquiry, reflection, and problem-solving.

AI-Enabling

Students further harnessed AI-enabled analytical tools to interpret their findings, identify patterns, and translate lived experiences into evidence-based insights. The initiative culminated in the production of structured research reports, demonstrating students’ ability to investigate, analyse, and contribute meaningfully to knowledge creation.

This initiative forms part of REGENT Business School’s broader strategy to build a sustainable research ecosystem that nurtures inquiry from undergraduate through to postgraduate level. By embedding research capabilities early, REGENT equips students with foundational skills in critical thinking, analysis, and applied problem-solving, essential competencies for leadership in complex professional environments.
