Centre For Healthcare Management

The Centre for Health Care Management also launched in 2013 is a new addition to the Institute for Global Initiatives at REGENT Business School. The arrival of its new Director, Professor Anis Karodia, an academic and researcher with a distinguished career in Health Care Management and Public Administration has heralded a new impetus for the School. Given the problems and challenges of health care in South Africa and suggestions that a new health care model (National Health Insurance) was in the offing, REGENT Business School seized the opportunity offered and broadened its mission to encompass the training of future health care management scholars.
Strategically, the centre is also planning to involve REGENT Business School’s vast network of alumni who hold leadership positions in every aspect of health care to work in close partnership with the Centre in activities such as guest lecturing, recruiting and mentoring students, and providing access to business data and practices to faculty engaged in research projects. The centre is optimistic that this close-knit community of academics, researchers, scholars, policy makers, students, alumni, and practitioners will in a short period of time provide a leading source of talent and leadership for the health care management field in South Africa and the world, to boot.

In terms of research, the Centre will be involved with some of the problems and challenges of health care management in South Africa. The Centre is currently involved in research pertaining to the management needs in public health care facilities in KwaZulu Natal.

Research publications relating to the Centre are available upon request.
