Course Overview

The qualification comprises six compulsory modules, each carrying 20 credits at NQF Level 8: Advanced Financial Management, Business Ethics and Corporate Governance, Managerial Economics, Management Accounting, Risk Management, and Business Research. The curriculum is structured across two semesters and is designed to develop analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities relevant to contemporary financial management practice.

Students engage with core areas such as investment appraisal, sources of finance, cost of capital, working capital management, governance and sustainability, market analysis, valuation, financial risk, and research methodology. The programme places particular emphasis on the application of theory to organisational decision-making, ethical and governance responsibilities, and evidence-based problem solving in dynamic business settings.

The programme is also aligned with current shifts in the finance profession, where employers increasingly require graduates who can combine financial analysis with strategic judgement, digital awareness, compliance sensitivity, and the ability to respond to change in business environments. REGENT’s broader finance offerings similarly frame financial management as a field concerned with planning, investment management, capital structure, working capital, financial analysis, and risk management.
