Course Overview

The proposed curriculum and exit level outcomes of the Advanced Certificate in Management (ACM) are designed to contribute to the achievement of the qualification’s purpose, which is to develop graduates with the skills and knowledge to manage organisations effectively.

The modules of the programme, including in the first semester Management Principles and Practices, Leading Digital Business Transformation, Introduction to Accounting and Finance and Introduction to Data Analysis and Business Intelligence seeks to provide students with a broad foundation in essential management concepts and skills.

These modules are aligned with the goal of developing graduates who can apply management principles and practices in various organisational contexts.

Objectives

The programme will enable students to integrate theory and practice and become adaptable by developing an understanding of the nature of junior and middle management work in a complex and ambiguous business environment. The programme will also expose students to critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making through conceptual knowledge acquisition and practical application of the subject matter.

The purpose of the ACM programme is tied to addressing the specific skills development needs of South Africa while strategically positioning professionals to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in South Africa’s dynamic business environment as well as positioning graduates to anticipate the challenges of the future and the changing global business context.
