Entry Requirements
Admission to the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) programme is guided by REGENT’s institutional admissions policy and complies with the Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework (HEQSF).
Minimum Admission Requirements:
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent qualification, with admission to Bachelor’s degree studies, as certified by Umalusi, and at least 50% (Level 4) in English (Home Language or First Additional Language). A satisfactory overall average of at least 60% in the NSC or equivalent qualification is recommended.
- A National Certificate (Vocational) [NC(V) Level 4], endorsed for Bachelor’s degree admission, with at least 50% in English and an average performance consistent with degree-level study.
Alternative Admission (Mature Age / RPL): Candidates aged 23 years or older who don’t meet the formal admission requirements may be considered under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Mature Age Entry provisions, based on relevant work experience, professional achievements, or prior learning. Such candidates will undergo an institutional assessment process to determine suitability for admission.
Additional Requirements: Proficiency in English is essential, as it is the language of instruction and assessment. Applicants may be required to undergo an admissions interview or placement assessment to evaluate academic readiness and motivation for legal studies.
Articulation Pathways: Students holding a related qualification, such as a Bachelor of Commerce in Law (NQF Level 7, 360 credits), may apply for credit transfer or advanced standing in accordance with institutional and national credit recognition policies.
