Research Faculty

The Research Department of REGENT Business School focuses primarily on the management of the core research activities of the institution. Additionally, the Research Department provides support to the academic and research staff and students through various research-based development initiatives and incentives in order to stimulate researchers. The faculty supports research planning and policy implementation and operates on an open door policy in terms of assistance, guidance or advice on all research matters, general academic issues such as supervision, journal publication, conferences, symposiums and seminars.

Professor Dhiru Soni

Director
Professor Dhiru V Soni was Head of Department of Environmental Studies and Development and Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research at the erstwhile University of Durban Westville. He was also Executive Director for Outreach at the University of KwaZulu Natal. He holds a D Phil Degree and has researched and published extensively and has presented papers at many national and international conferences. He has been a member of the Editorial Board of the South African Geographical Journal. His current research interest is in the field of Green Governance, Entrepreneurship and Food Security.

Nadeem Cassim

Academic Manager
Nadeem Cassim holds a Masters degree in Social Science (Industrial, Organisational and Labour Studies) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He currently is an associate director and also heads the Research Department. Nadeem is responsible for the development and review of research policies and procedures, as well as curriculum development. Nadeem also manages Academic Faculty at the institution, and has plans of pursuing a PHD in the near future.

Suveera Singh

Researcher: MBA
Suveera Singh has obtained a Master’s degree in Industrial, Organisational and Labour Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and is currently responsible for the review, development, moderation and supervision of the research component of the MBA programme. She is also involved in lecturing students at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Suveera is currently pursuing a PHD.

Stanton Thomas

Researcher: MBA
Stanton Thomas holds a Masters in Business Administration through the Management College of South Africa (Mancosa). His role focuses on the following aspects: review, development, moderation and supervision of the research component of the MBA programme as well as to conduct workshops. He also lectures within the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has plans of pursuing a PHD in the near future.

Abner Mthembu

Researcher: MBA
Abner Mthembu holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA). Abner is currently pursuing his PhD. He is currently responsible for review, development, moderation and supervision of the research component of the MBA programme.

Dheshni Marimuthu

Researcher – BCOM Honours and PGDip in Education
Dheshni Marimuthu holds a Masters degree in Social Science (Industrial, Organisational and Labour Studies) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is responsible for the co-ordination and supervision of Bcom Honours as well as Education (PGDIP) students completing the Research Project component of their Postgraduate Degree. She also lectures on the postgraduate diploma in management (Business Research).

Khatija Haniff

Research Administrator
Khathija Haniff holds an Honors Degree in Industrial Psychology obtained from the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN). She is responsible for support and co-ordination within the Research Department. Specialties: Administration.
