From 19tt to 23rd October 2015 Professor Marvin Kambuwa visited Russia, where he was hosted by the Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management (NSEUM). According to Professor Kambuwa, the highlight of his visit was his appointment as Visiting Professor at NSEUM. “The appointment was approved on the 29th of September 2015 by the NSEUM’s Senate” said Prof Kambuwa.

Prof Kambuwa noted that the visit followed several years of engagement between RBS and NSEUM, and an earlier sojourn to Novosibirsk by Mr Ahmed Shaikh, RBS’s Managing Director.

While at NSEUM, Prof Kambuwa took the opportunity to attend a graduation ceremony for MBA and Diploma students, where he was one of three guest speakers. Prof Kambuwa also made a presentation to NSEUM students at an International Certificate Delivery Ceremony where many of the students expressed interest in continuing with their post-graduate business studies at Regent.

Other activities included visits to places of interest such as the Centre for Financial Technologies, the Biotechnopark at Koltsovo, SINAR – high fashion clothing manufacturing company, a high-tech Regional Credit Bank, the Geological Museum and various tourist attractions.

Prof Kambuwa also found time to attend the opening of the First International Statistics Congress which was hosted by NSEUM. The Congress was last held in Russia a hundred years ago so this was a significant achievement for NSEUM.

The visit marked a highpoint in relations between RBS and NSEUM, and matters of mutual interest were discussed, including faculty and student exchange, offering of Regent’s programmes in Russia, cooperation in research, co-hosting of International Conferences, etc.
